Shubhangna
Isha Hatha Yoga Teacher
A fitness enthusiast and a passionate sportsperson Shubhangna’s coming to yoga was a natural consequence. She began with an ‘ídea’ of yoga, which included body contortions for health benefits. With this idea in mind, Shubhangna embarked on her journey of discovering yoga.
From Krishnamachari Yoga, to Bihar School of Yoga to Iyengar Yoga, she traversed the whole spectrum. While each of these traditions are powerful and iconic in their rights and Shubhangna gained great insights into the world of yoga through these, her heart and mind did not find rest in any of them.
She was now looking to not only learning yoga but become an instrument for dispersing the ancient science of yoga. As destiny would have it, the Isha Yoga Foundation at Coimbatore announced its first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program that very year. In 2012, Shubhangna enrolled in the first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program with the Isha Foundation, as its youngest participant among the first 48. students. She completed the 21-week teacher’s training program in 2012, under the direct guidance and grace of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, in Classical Hatha Yoga in its purest form, at the Isha Yoga Centre, Coimbatore. In the elaborate 1750 hours of the Classical Hatha Yoga program, she was trained to teach Upa Yoga, Angamardana, Surya Kriya, Yogasanas and Bhuta Shuddhi.
Six months later she emerged not only as a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher but as a person whose initial ídea’ of yoga as a system of body contortions was replaced by a deep understanding of the ancient science of yoga as a tool for physical as well as spiritual advancement. Shubhangna’s journey from experiencing yoga, to becoming a teacher to transforming into a yogi was finally complete.
