Yoga, to me, has been the cornerstone of being able to fulfill an active lifestyle. Movement and well-being are important. Family plays an integral role in my life and being physically and mentally fit has enabled me to take an active part in the upbringing of my children.
Through my learings as a yoga instructor, connectivity plays a major role in a persons well being. As the COvid 19 Pandemic has tried its best to isolate us, research shows that having a strong network of support or strong community bonds fosters both emotional and physical health and is an important component of adult life. At Yogagym, we encorage connectivity and community through our yoga classes, yoga retreats and now corporate yoga.
I'm a person who enjoys meeting people from all backgrounds, and bringing everyone together to feel better from inside out! Group fitness has always been something I have gravitated towards, so in 2017 I began my very own yoga studio- Yogagym. Yoga is for every body - Whether you’ve hit middle age or your golden years, the benefits of exercise are profound.
My yoga studio - Yogagymis located at 38 Montgomery Crescent, Cockle Bay, Auckland. It is beautiful,welcoming and tranquil space where you get to relax and focus on you - if only for a short period of time.
What to expect at the Yoga Gym Studio
Yoga Gym is located in the beautiful Cockle Bay, Howick. Just 25 kilometres away from Auckland CBD or just a short 5 minute drive from Howick CBD. Being located close to the sea, our yoga studio already has a sense of calmness and tranquillity due to its location. Unlike city yoga studios, there is plenty of off street parking and during the summer months a stroll down to Shelly Beach is the perfect way to recharge the batteries after a stressful day in the city.

At Yogagym, the form of yoga I teach is Hatha Yoga perfect for beginners and the more advanced. Hatha yoga can be considered an umbrella term to describe many of the most common forms of yoga taught in the West today. With this type of yoga, you move your body slowly and deliberately into different poses that challenge your strength and flexibility, while at the same time focusing on relaxation and mindfulness.
Getting older makes one apprehensive about high impact exercises for fear of long term injury. Yoga and following the basic yoga ethos has taught me self-compassion. My Yoga journey has pushed my limitations but not at the expense of my body. Yoga everyday, has helped to quieten my mind and relieve stress, whilst improving my mobility exponentially. These are the key components that I would like to share with anyone that recognises themselves in me.
